Summer has arrived, and I know you are all crazy busy with your scout camps, girls camps, reunions, and what not. BUT--I am giving you HOMEWORK!! That's right! As you probably know, the music for the routine is cut and ready, and the first dance in our 6-minute, 8-dance medley is the Paso Doble--which I have never taught you. To be honest, its by far my weakest dance. But IT.IS.SO.COOL. So, your homework is to study THIS VIDEO. You don't have to memorize the steps, but practice some of those steps, get the feel for the body movement--WATCH YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR and think MATADOR!! The Paso Doble is modeled after bull fighting--the man is the matador and the woman is the red cape. It's a very masculine, strong dance. Feel free to practice with each other if you get the chance. When we get together on the 18th, we will be going over some Paso Doble, and it will be much easier if you already familiar with some of these steps. I may not have a partner to help me, so having you already familiar will make a huge difference. Practice it, and just keep thinking, BATMAN. Because we will be dancing to Batman music in the Paso! Feel free to also browse Youtube for other Paso Doble dances so you can start to get a feel for the dance. The steps themselves are not that hard, but the body styling is the most challenging. The other dances in our medley will include: Paso Doble, Cha-Cha, Swing, Quickstep, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, and Tango. See you on August 18th! |

That looks fun, with the man as the matador and the woman as the red cape... It's going to be way cool.
