I hate to say it, but it's becoming obvious we may have to lose the carry lift. Although it's looking better, it's still not fabulous--and though I'd leave it in, it appears that it is the death nail for the dresses. It makes them drop early nearly every time. We may need to replace it with something a little less risky. If the dresses drop early we'll totally lose the effect! So, we'll try it on Monday, but here are a few ideas to replace it. Tell me what you think!
So...I know the timing is horrible but I've been thinking long and hard about it and I think we will have to make a slight choreography change in order to accommodate the costume change in the jive. I think the girls will need a little time to get their dresses unhooked, unseen, and I think that having the dresses all drop at the same time will look better. Watch the video below for the changes. I expect you to be familiar with them at our next rehearsal on the 22nd. There will not be a lot of new STEPS to learn, just formations. The main change is that the girls will all come to the center of the circle. While on the inside, while the guys spin, they will unhook their dresses, then when they go out of the circle, the guys will all pull the backs of their dresses at the same time, so they all fall on "down." As to when the guys will pull out their ties--umm...not sure. Maybe while they are spinning? Hmmm....
We'll have to try it when we have a full team and see if it even works. But it's what I'm thinking about right now. Any thoughts? PS - Please have your $25 for jackets in by the 15th--that's this Friday. Also, make sure you fill out the order form as well. Your name will be on the FRONT of the jacket, not the back. |
