Due to some circumstances I had to change it just a bit--let me know if you have any trouble with it.

BinghamParent Meeting - March 20th Auditions: March 30th and 31st. The required fees for Ballroom Team are spirit pack $250 which includes 2 practice outfits, both standard and latin shoes, team t-shirt, and sweats. $100.00 costume fee that goes to renting, cleaning, and buying new costumes each year. $100 summer clinic fee pays for coaches, choreography, music, and team activities/supplies during those 3 weeks. Summer clinic is the best way for the team to bond, get to know each other, and get a head start on choreography for the year. There are two district fees that I have no control over. I have discussed these fees with my admin. $125 participation fee pays for busses through our year and assistant coaching. $30 course fee for helps pay for supplies used in the classroom. In collaborating with my fellow dance teachers in the district the required fees are the same for all of us. Any other fee beyond the ones listed above are not required. My idea for next year is to plan a fundraiser before pictures that will then go towards the basic package. What ever is earned beyond that can go towards whatever other fees you want. I also want to do 2 fundraisers in the summer as well to help cover costs earlier. Fundraisers are planned to help cover required fees, optional fees, and extra expenses such as multiple guest choreographers, master classes and clinics, competitions and festivals, programs, tickets, and posters for concert, music, costumes, concert expenses, gifts for the team, senior recognition gifts (Bingham blankets), and so much more. Students can pay for all of ballroom team with the fundraisers if they actively participate. We have a few more scheduled for this year if the students would like to participate in them. I am constantly reviewing and revising budgets not only on my own but also with the principle, V.P, and the accountant. I will always cut out unnecessary costs year to year if possible. The principal is helping us fund for more guest choreographers and master classes. Depending on availability and time how many we bring in may vary from year to year. I believe it’s extremely important for the students to meet and learn from various professionals in all styles. Not only will this help them with ballroom skills but also networking within ballroom and dance community for future job opportunities and or college scholarships. Having said that bringing in guest can become expensive but worth the opportunity it gives. This is a high school yearlong program and requires funds necessary to continue running and building. We have done incredible things just with in two years that most schools haven’t even accomplished in 10+ years of being around. I am extremely grateful and happy for Ballroom Team. We have surpassed all expectations and I can’t wait for it to continue growing. Copper HillsHere is the rehearsal schedule for the week following the play and before our show. Please contact me if you have conflicts and do everything in your power to eliminate conflicts. We simply have no time! Otherwise, BE THERE! Our Saturday rehearsal location is TBA--Elk Ridge is closed, so if you have access to a nearby church building please let me know. Thank you!
Here are all the individual pics we took! Feel free to copy them, but I will be giving you a digital copy when you get your DVD. You guys are awesome! 9th Grade Show7th Grade Show8th Grade ShowOn September 17th, the managers took a little bit of video of you guys dancing the medley. Check it out! It's here at last! I've been working on this thing on and off all summer, but today Maddie came over and we finally finished choreography and formations. YAY!! These formations and even partnerships are still subject to changes, but only out of great necessity. Please do not ask Mrs. Rees to switch partnerships. Please note which shows you are in (make certain you are in the show for your grade) and who your two partners are. Then note which two spots you will be learning. Watch this video several times, watching YOUR two spots and just pay attention to where you will be. It will be much easier at choreography if you are at least vaguely aware of your formations, especially in the beginning with the confusion of learning two spots. Enjoy! ** A change in partnerships has already been made--Hannah was not in the 8th grade show, and she's in 8th grade. She and Mckenzie have been switched--same spot, but different shows and partners. ** A second change was made to move Jack into the 8th grade show. Thomas has been moved to pink with Benzley in 7th grade, and Jack is with Jewel in red in 8th grade. A HUGE thank you to Mr. Campbell for recording our segment and sending it out! I thought I'd never get to see it! Thought I'd share it with you all here. What an honor to be on TV with our team! We are cutting counting stars. If you would still like to do it, let me know. We could consider making it a 4 couple routine, but finding time to work on it will be difficult. If you are willing to do the 4 couple and feel like you know it well enough to pull it off, text me and let me know. If I have enough couples we'll work it out. Otherwise, we won't do it. And it's totally ok if we don't--we are all really stressed out right now and as much as I love that routine, I don't want to do it if it's not going to look ready. (So far I have one boy and two girls willing to do the 4 couple) We will be working Time Medley on Wednesday and Saturday. Wednesday we will work ONLY the West Coast, Samba, Quickstep, and Cha-Cha. So the only ones who need to come to rehearsal on Wed are: Tyrese & Maleia, Ethan & Alanna, Kate & Nathanael, and Hunter & Krista. The rest of you do not have to come to rehearsal at all on Wednesday. On Saturday, Maddie and Brent will be here to help choreograph the rest of the dances. So I will need Foxtrot (Chase & Emily), Rumba (Trent & Sasha), Tango (Darcie & Michael), Paso (Benzley & Ammon, and Mambo (Mason & Savannah.) The others who have their routines do not need to come. YOU WILL ONLY NEED TO COME ON SATURDAY FOR 20 MINUTES. Talk to your partner and choose a time slot below and let me know when you can come that day by commenting on this post. Guys--this is important. Please make it a priority to be there. I don't want to scrap ANOTHER routine. Thank you! Detailed ScheduleHere is a detailed schedule for what we will be working on between now and the Parent Performance night. Saturday, March 18 **THE LOCATION HAS BEEN CHANGED*** Stinkin' Jr. Jazz cancelled their meet AGAIN, which means that Elk Ridge will not be open. GRR!!! But Trent's mother has secured us space at a dance studio in Daybreak. The address is 11277 Kestrel Rise Rd. It's on Soda Row and is called "The Studio, by Black Diamond." We only have it till 11 so please be on time with your scheduled time. Parents are welcome to stay and watch and then take you back home when you are done. Time Medley choreography sessions, no group practice. Come for your 20 minutes only and stay to practice if you want. We need Tango, Foxtrot, Rumba, Mambo, and Paso. Choose a time in the comments below: 9 - 9:20 - Alanna & Ethan (Cha-Cha) 9:20 - 9:40 - Hunter & Krista (Quickstep) 9:40 - 10:00 - Michael & Darcie (Tango) 10:00 - 10:20 - Mason & Savannah (Mambo) 10:20 - 10:40 - Chase & Emily (Foxtrot) 10:40 - 11:00 - Ammon & Benzley (Paso Doble) Monday, March 20 We will run the 9th grade show twice through first--if you are in the 9th grade show, you need to be there. We will run all of the time medley from start to finish and we will learn the 30 second cha-cha ending with all couples. EVERYONE MUST BE THERE, EVEN THE TRACK KIDS BECAUSE THEY PROMISED ME MY MONDAYS AND I WANT MY MONDAYS DARNIT!! If you are in the 9th grade show, we have a performance at Herriman that night and we need to be at Herriman at 5:30. So you may want to bring a sack lunch or something because you'll only have an hour between when practice ends and when you have to get to Herriman. Wednesday, March 23 ALL TEAM MEMBERS NEED TO BE THERE. The first thing we will run is the 30-second ending in the Time Medley where all 12 couples dance. It's short and sweet. We will also run the time medley from start to finish with your choreography. REMEMBER--YOU are responsible to make sure you have your choreography down! Monday, March 27 We will run Time Medley and the Funk Medley. Wednesday, March 29 Final rehearsal, all members need to be there. We will be running Time Medley, and the Medley in preparation for the parent night.
