Ladies! Look over some of these ideas and PLEASE comment below on what you think! Also, show this to your parents--make sure they weigh in on this and are comfortable with the options here. I'd like to purchase costumes by November 1, so we need to make a decision! Idea #1Ladies, what do you think of this? Not sure which belt to do. The corset is a lot like the ones the knives and forks wore in Beauty and the Beast...Kennady, were those easy to dance in? The dress is cute and simple, and they actually have enough in stock, which is a HUGE problem with a lot of dresses. You would wear black leggings with it. IDea #2I'm kinda liking this! Kinda different and edgy, and yes it comes in blue! The picture of the girl wearing it is from someone on Amazon who bought it and posted in their review, which means its not some photoshoped pic from China... You would wear a body suit under it in either blue or black, depending on what we pick. It's short, of course, but you will be wearing leggings under it. IDea #3Lets do leather! Girls could do either a leather skirt, or what about awesome leather PANTS?? No idea what to wear on top though. Corset, maybe? But I love the leather! Here's a shirt I was thinking about, but you'd have to wear a body suit under it since it's probably a little low cut. If we choose the skirt, you'd wear leggings. I think the skirt comes in blue as well. Idea #4Probably the simplest idea of them all, the reviews say the dress is a very light weight stretchy material. My big concern is that this image is OBVIOUSLY photoshopped, so it makes me a little wary of what it actually looks like. However, an Amazon reviewer posted this pic, and I think that gives a much better idea of what it looks like. Anyway, it's a thought. It's also super cheap--only $14. Idea #5The idea of pants is appealing--it matches the style of the dance, and will make that toe touch so much easier--though it's possible your heel could get caught. I think these are actually pretty sweet--kinda 70's, you know? But they are a little steep on price--$26, which is a lot when we still have to buy a top to go with it. And it's actually pretty hard to find a good top.
Here's the video I was using in class today. This will give you an idea of what kind of lifts we will be doing! First of all--we WILL be having a choreography session on the 27th, since Tyrese is the only who can't make it. Cole--make sure you get back to me about your availability. However, I do need a church to have the rehearsal in, since I doubt Elk Ridge will be open that day. Sara, Thomas, and Kate--your parents indicated they may be able to get access to a church. Please check availability for the 27th from 9:00 - 12:00 a.m. and get back to me as soon as possible. And NOW--for the the BIG announcement! PARTNERSHIPS!!!! The video below will show partnerships for all three shows, as well as the formation plan. Rememem Got together with the amazing Maddie and Brent today to go over some of the choreography and work it out to see if it's gonna come together. We had a blast! Here's a little sneak peek from today's session! Here's one from the jive...They didn't quite hit it perfect, but you get the idea...Boys--do some pushups. Yeah. We didn't work the Rumba as much--but here's a lift from it! Here is the most recent cut of our music for the routine. It may change slightly, but this is it! YAY!!
Here is the routine for the Latin Culture dance with 8 couples. It will show the partnerships as well. I'm gonna post them here as I complete them! I wonder who will be last? I am SO THRILLED that so many of last year's team is willing to come back and perform our Viennese Waltz for the Ballroom Showcase on March 31st! I know you are all super busy and trying to organize everyone's schedules will be really hard. Here are all the possible dates that will work for me. Please comment below if any of these days are absolutely non-negotiable can't be changed no way dates for you. Then I will pick the ones that work for most of us. I will adjust the routine to the number of couples we can get for three of the same rehearsals. Friday, February 26th - There's no school this day. Not sure if you have plans, not even sure if Elk Ridge is open. But it's a possibility. If Elk Ridge isn't open, we'd have to get a church. Tuesday, March 8th - 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. at ERMS Thursday, March 17th - 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. at ERMS (It's my anniversary and my daughter's birthday that week, so I can't do it on the 15th.) Friday, March 18th - 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. at ERMS Tuesday, March 22nd - 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. at ERMS Tuesday, March 29th - 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. at ERMS I still haven't heard from a few of the girls, (Ros, Sydney, Abby, and Allie) so unless your partner is willing to dance it, you can't be in it! I REALLY want at least 6 couples though! Right now the partnerships that are set are: Kaisia & Chris Mats & Abbey M Seth & Anna (though I haven't actually told Seth yet...but dude. He'll totally do it.) Ethan & Amanda OK! PLEASE COMMENT ON YOUR AVAILABILITY ON THIS BLOG POST. Its much easier than keeping track of all your texts! Study the routine and try to remember as much as possible! OH--and I'm assuming you all still have skirts? Trouble is--Abbey M doesn't have one. So she'll need to borrow if there's a girl who chooses not to do it. Or, we could ask Ashley to ship hers from Kamus (kidding!) or, we could just do the stereotype costumes. Alright, here they are. As you watch these, ask yourself--are these performance ready? What can I do to make my part better? When am I off beat, out of sync, out of line? Come ready on Saturday to improve every area you can--we need to get this thing looking a little less sloppy--particularly in the areas where we've changed choreography. Watch all three--even if you aren't in it. The comments might prove useful for you. Make sure you study this well BEFORE our Saturday rehearsal. We only have one left!!! 7th Grade Show8th Grade Show9th Grade Show |
